I remember asking for her dad’s permission and blessing to have her hand in marriage. He gave it, of course, but he had lots of questions for me. He wanted me to give detailed answers on how I planned to support and take care of his little girl and also questions about my past. He laid out some very important expectations and characteristics for what he wanted to see in a mate for his daughter. He has always been such a godly example to me and was such a loving, caring, and supportive husband himself. Amanda was raised by two of the most godly, loving, Christian parents that I have ever met and it shows in her character.
People use the phrase all the time, but it is so true in my life, I married way above my head. I have been blessed with such a wonderful wife. She is truly a gift from the Lord. My wife is humble and she does not seek to be recognized for the things that she does. I hope that she does not mind the public praise I am giving her now, because she has earned it. She is awesome, I love her, and I want the world to know about it.
She has been the most selfless, sacrificing, forgiving, loving, dedicated, faithful, and caring spouse that any man could ever dream of. She has consistently put my needs before her own and always tries to the best of her ability to make sure that I am happy, comfortable, and that I have everything that I want. She truly spoils me!
In all of the years that we have been together, I can probably count on two hands the number of times that I have had to pack my own lunch for work. She cooks, she cleans, she does the laundry, grocery shops, washes the dishes, pays the bills, takes care of the children, and she pampers me every chance she gets too. I’m not sure that I can remember the last time I went a whole day without her rubbing my back for me. She went with me shortly after we got married all the way to Jacksonville, Florida and worked many hours to help pay for my college classes.
She is the most wonderful, caring, and loving mother to our three children. I could not have picked a better mother and role model for my sweet babies. She loves Jesus and lives for Him. After her relationship with God, she makes her family her main priority. She is smart, talented, creative, and rather handy around the house at fixing things and assembling things that need to be put together. That is a good thing, because I am not mechanically inclined whatsoever.
On top of all of that, she is stunningly gorgeous. It’s almost not fair to everyone else that all of these wonderful attributes were given to one person in the same package. I would never have thought it to be possible, but she has only grown in her beauty over time. She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside too. I truly have what you would call a trophy wife. She doesn’t even need me, yet she chooses to love me unconditionally.
If you only knew her husband as well as she does and what she has put up with over the years, you would say that she deserves special recognition and a medal. Despite all of my faults and failures (and let me tell you there are many of them) she has remained right by side through thick and thin. Always willing to forgive and just keep on loving me, even when I was acting very unloveable. She has taught me so many things about true love and forgiveness.
She may not need me, but I sure need her. I honestly don’t know what I would do without her. She is the light of my life and she makes me happy. So, Happy Anniversary Amanda and thank you for always loving me and never giving up on me. Thank you for all of your many sacrifices, your unending love, and your faithfulness to our Lord, and your family. I pray that my gift of words to you will add a bit of joy to your day sweetheart. I love you always and forever…5013
I close this post out with a poem that I just very recently wrote for my wife for our anniversary this year.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
I can still remember that fall day when you walked down the aisle and became my Queen
You had taken my attention, stolen my desire, and my captured heart was the crime scene
You looked so absolutely gorgeous and stunning in that long white flowing dress
It took my breath away, captivated by your beauty, words can't adequately express
You've stayed faithful to me and kept right by my side from Kentwood to Jacksonville
If I could have any woman in the world and go back in time, I would choose you still
God has blessed us with three beautiful children; Joshua, Mary, and Mark Anthony
I could not have chosen a better mother to care for my babies, of this I guarantee
We have been through the darkest of valleys and stood together on the highest of hills
You've flooded my soul with warmth since back when you were still just Amanda Mills
We have been through so much together; happiness, heartache, trials, and tears
Our love has stood the test of time, it's hard to believe it's already been 17 years
And no matter where our ship sails from here, to clear blue skies or stormy weather
Know that you are not alone, as long as I live, we will travel this journey together
So Happy Anniversary my love as we celebrate the day that we both said, "I do"
I look forward to many more, to sweet times ahead, and growing old with you
You are my very best friend, my lover, my world, my rock, my joy, and my pride
You are just as lovely now as on our wedding day, you are still my beautiful bride
Love, Randy
